Introducing quinoa for 200 women famers in Malawi

Replacing tobacco production

QQ has been involved in a project in Malawi, with the aim of introducing quinoa as a new high quality crop for Malawian farmers. Quinoa will replace some of the large tobacco production, due to a decreasing market demand, and therefore enter into a new food market with much potential. Markets will be household consumption, local and national markets, and export to neighbour countries.

A female touch

The farmers participating in the project are 200 women farmers, spread around an area in central Malawi. In addition has collaboration been established with other colleagues and institutions, in order to reach out further, and create interest to this climate proof crop with other farmers and other markets. Main partner in Malawi is the company Agwenda, supplying seed and inputs for agricultural production.
