News from our CEO, Sven-Erik: On my summer trip this year, the QQ Tour de Europe, I got an impression about how quinoa and other crops were doing in June. In general I saw very nice quinoa fields in several countries, despite the late sowing in 2025.

However, we have again seen extremely high temperatures, drought, and even hailstorms. Under these difficult conditions we have seen very good results with our new variety Freyja, which has done well from Sweden in the north and all the way down through Europe to France and Spain.

What I heard from most of the farmers and other contacts were, that climate changes are making agriculture much more difficult, and that we see more extremes in the growth season. When it rains, it pours with rain, when it is dry it is like a desert, and when it is hot it is like boiling. The only solution is to grow crops with tolerance to one or more of these stress factors, and also spread out the cultivation to more crops, more varieties, and maybe even spreading sowing dates. Other crops to think of with tolerance to various of the climate stress factors are chickpea, lentil, chia, millets and amaranth.
